Restoring a historical sailboat in the north of norway

It all started with seeing this wonderful old sailboat just parked outside my building in the old abandon fishing village of Nyksund Norway and it was just sitting there rotting away, I started asking questions about the boat and found out that it has a wonderful and romanitic story. It was built in 1936 on an island in the artic sea called Havesund. It has been used as a transport vessal for cargo, people, fishing boat, as a prison transport under the second world war, as a life line for the outposts on the many inhabitants on small islands scattered around the north coast of norway, as a smuggling boat with english officers infeltrating norway to fight the Germans in the second world war. I have met many old people who remember the boat very well, They say allways when it sailed into port. They knew a good time was coming with music, home brew and supplies. It was too sad to see that this importand part of norwegian history was just going to desolve away from our times, I feel it is very important the the younger generation can share and learn from there history. I want this boat to be for all to share. Let group together and finish the boat and you will have access to use the boat at your leasure. :)

The next phase

Getting ready to start the oiling of the hule after a exstensive sanding job

The next phase of the project is to take off the alluminium deck and rebuild it in wood

Working the wood in the sanding machine to get the right diameter

The process

Rebuilding the inner structer of the boat called the ribbs and the stern

Every millimeter of the boat is done by hand in the traditional historical way
